The purpose of an OJT is to assist an employer who hires an individual who would not otherwise qualify for the job and to teach the skills needed to perform at the entry level for the position. Employers receive compensation for the extraordinary costs associated with training participants and the costs associated with the lower productivity of the participants during the training period.
