All About Speexx

Want to know more about the cloud based English Language Learning course Speexx? Here are some detailed instructions, screenshots and video to help you and your customers get the most out of this resource.

Quick Overview:

  1. Speexx is Premium content but the difference for Speexx is the customer does not need to complete a WorkSource + course (but they must complete WIOA).
  2. The Speexx placement test is a one hour placement long (that can only be taken once) and we recommend customers take the test at a WorkSource center so they can get hands on assistance if needed. The customer will need headphones or a speaker. Questions include reading, writing and listening comprehension. The customer will receive their results which will be between 1- 6 levels from Beginner to Native Speaker. The customer will need to notify WorkSource Oregon staff of the level they placed into. Staff then need to authorize that level for the customer in i-Trac.
  3. The placement test is called “Test your English communication skills with Speexx online test” in i-Trac.
  4. Courses include a variety of exercises such as reading comprehension, writing exercises and pronunciation practice.
  5. Customers get their own Trainer who grades their work and returns it with feedback. They can also message their Trainer.
  6. Course materials are in English but can also be set to German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Polish, Russian, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese or Thai.
  7. Customers can sign up for virtual trainings on specific courses whenever it is convenient for them.
  8. Topics scale up as the customer progresses through the course, with the final level giving customers the choice to focus on industry specific topics and vocabulary.
  9. Customers can interact with other English Language Learners by participating in the “Community” exercises and/or virtual training.
  10. Virtual Trainings can be booked by clicking the “Training Calendar” on their dashboard.
